Beyoncé’s Uncle Has Passed Away at 77 — Tina Knowles Shares a Heartfelt Tribute
Beyoncé’s family is mourning the loss of a beloved member. Her uncle, Rowland Martin Buyince, affectionately known as “Butch,” has passed away at the age of 77.
The news was shared by Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, who posted a touching tribute to her brother on Instagram.
“My beautiful big brother Butch went to be with God this weekend,” Tina wrote. “I will miss him dearly. He was always in the Air Force. He was so handsome, loved motorcycles, and had the most beautiful green eyes.”
She went on to describe him as a gifted storyteller and a deeply loved member of their family.
“He leaves behind his wonderful wife Jeanette, his devoted daughter Dana, and two beautiful grandchildren, Yvette and Roland,” Tina added. “He was loved by so many. Sail on, Butch.”
The news comes shortly after Tina Knowles was seen attending the Luar fashion show in New York alongside her daughter Beyoncé. The two proudly supported Daniel Julez J. Smith Jr., Tina’s grandson and Solange Knowles’s son, as he took the runway.
Meanwhile, Beyoncé is enjoying a major career milestone. Her latest single, “Texas Hold ’Em,” recently became her first UK number-one hit in nearly 14 years, and she also made history as the first Black woman to top the US Billboard Country Chart.
The track, released during the Super Bowl on February 11, is expected to be part of her upcoming album, due out on March 29. The announcement came moments after Usher’s halftime performance, during a game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers.
Speculation is now swirling that Beyoncé may take on a residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas, following the massive success of her recent 56-show stadium tour, which spanned 39 countries and grossed an astonishing £455 million, placing it among the most successful tours in history.
As Beyoncé’s star continues to rise, her family’s loss reminds fans of the deeply human moments that shape even the most iconic lives.
