Georgia Crash Claims the Lives of Mother and Four Children, Leaving a Family and Community Grieving
A heartbreaking tragedy has unfolded in Georgia, where a devastating car crash claimed the lives of a mother and her four young children. The Dougan family, who had recently moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, was traveling to Florida when the accident occurred.
On the morning of Sunday, April 6, 2025, 27-year-old Reagan Dougan was driving south on I-95 in McIntosh County, Georgia, with her four children — a 9-year-old son, a 4-year-old son, a 2-year-old daughter, and a 3-month-old baby. Tragically, all five family members lost their lives when their SUV collided with another vehicle and caught fire.
The family had been on their way to reunite with Reagan’s husband, Christian, in Florida.

Ongoing Investigation
According to authorities, Reagan was driving a rented Jeep Cherokee when it struck the rear of another vehicle. The impact led to a serious accident, resulting in the SUV catching fire. The other driver survived and was taken to the hospital. The crash temporarily shut down the highway as emergency responders worked at the scene.
Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the collision.
Remembering a Devoted Mother
Friends and family describe Reagan Dougan as a kind, joyful person who devoted herself to raising a happy, loving family.
“She was very dedicated. Her kids were everything to her,” said family friend Christopher “Jonesy” Butler-Jones. “If you were having a bad day, she was the one who could lift your spirits.”
Though the family had recently moved to Raleigh, neighbors quickly grew fond of them. Jason Flores, a neighbor, remembered, “She always had a smile on her face. The kids were always playing, always happy. They were just a joy to be around.”
Support and Tributes Pour In
In the wake of the tragedy, Reagan’s family launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral expenses and transport the family’s remains to Florida. The fundraiser quickly gained support, reaching more than $88,000 of its $120,000 goal at the time of writing.

Christian’s stepmother, Sarah Stoltman, who organized the fundraiser, wrote: “We cannot even fathom the financial burden it is going to be to bring Reagan and the children home. This support will help provide a dignified farewell for these five beautiful souls.”
Photographer Katrina Cusatis, who had taken maternity photos of the family, posted a heartfelt tribute on social media, calling their connection “truly unforgettable.” Friends and strangers alike have expressed their condolences, sharing messages of love, support, and prayer for Christian and both sides of the grieving family.
A Legacy of Light and Love
While nothing can replace the loss of Reagan and her children, those who knew her hope her memory will continue to inspire love and kindness in others.
“There was a warmth around her,” said Butler-Jones. “She made people feel safe, cared for, and seen. That’s the kind of legacy she leaves behind.”
As communities in both North Carolina and Florida mourn this unimaginable loss, they are united in support of a grieving father and in remembrance of a family whose light touched many lives.
